ANNE SOLDAAT – BORN TO PERFORM

I had the honour to direct a music video to the wonderful song ‘Born To Perform’ by Anne Soldaat. I have been working on this film for a while, recording with a variety of wellknown Dutch musicians, a television host, comedian, actrice and even – by then – the Dutch vice-president and Minister Of Finance Wouter Bos. The music video was released this week.

ONDER INVLOED BOEK

Matthijs van der Ven schrijft in 2010 zijn eerste boek, met de werktitel ‘Onder Invloed’. Als vanzelfsprekend hangt het boek nauw samen met het project dat Van der Ven in 2008 oprichtte, via de website OnderInvloed.com.

Uitgeverij L.J. Veen te Amsterdam zal het boek medio najaar 2010 uitgeven.

DAVIE LAWSON IN SESSION

In September 2008, I toured with Davie Lawson to film a documentary about him, which is due April 2010. This week, we decided to upload some outtakes from a session we recorded at Ro Halfhide’s place in Amsterdam. Halfhide also recorded the audio. The songs, ‘All I See’ and ‘The Black River’, are both featured on Lawson’s second album ‘Tree Tumble Wake Mother’, out later this Spring.

Davie Lawson will be touring The Netherlands in April 2010.

FINE FINE MUSIC: THE UNDERTONES

Fine Fine Music asked me to film an interview with the legendary The Undertones by pop journalist Gijsbert Kamer at Paradiso, Amsterdam. I also made a little impression of the night, with performances by I Kissed Charles, Tim Knol and Lola Kite as well.

Ik heb al lange tijd geen post meer geplaatst op matthijsvanderven.nl over het Onder Invloed project. Dat is namelijk in een enorme vaart ontwikkeld de afgelopen maanden, waardoor ik voornamelijk druk ben geweest om OnderInvloed.com bij te houden.

Het afgelopen half jaar zijn er sessies gepubliceerd met: De Staat, Marien Dorleijn, Anne Soldaat, Lucky Fonz III, Ross Clark (Schotland), Paulusma, Bettie Serveert, Maurits Westerik (GEM), The Redwalls (USA), Alamo Race Track en vele anderen.

Op matthijsvanderven.nl zullen niet alle sessies worden gepubliceerd, daarvoor is OnderInvloed.com. Wel zal ik hier het belangrijkste nieuws steeds vermelden.
